Galicia Dreaming

Galicia is tucked away in the far Northwest corner of Spain. It is a region of forests and hills, mists and mystery. It has Celtic legends and medieval myths and the food...............oh the food, where else can a plate of prawns and a glass of wine in a roadside bar be so good that it makes you want to weep.

Most of people who visit are pilgrims and many arrive on foot, most on a journey which means more than a mere walk. In many ways the land has absorbed the hopes and aspirations of the pilgrims, their needs, their spirituality and their journey is part of the land itself.

Galicia is a beautiful part of Spain, green trees and fields, stone walls and granite houses, rolling hills and river gorges. It has a dramatic Atlantic coastline, with fantastic beaches, coves and inlets (called Rias) and incredibly pretty little fishing villages. Wetter and less hot than the rest of Spain the countryside lends itself to walking, cycling, or pottering around some of the lovely old towns.

I will add to this site as I explore my new home so the information will personal, my own impressions and discoveries rather that historical and geographical as a guide book would be.

I hope that we can explore together.

Come to Galicia

There are miles of unspoilt coastline, Countless rivers, lakes and beautiful villages
